In this case, the children of the Greek Gods are a bunch of dislexic kids with a short attention span, who try to save the world from Kronos while dealing with their own problems. In the original story that we all know, Percy saves the world and falls inlove with Annabeth. In this case, he falls inlove with a ginger daughter of Zeus's who's best friend is a 46 year old homeless man.

Alexander did not want to be part of a quest, much less any sort of prophecy. But then again, he also didn't want to be dead. So when he becomes a totally inconvenient addenum to the Prophecy of the Seven (now eight?), he's tagging along on a journey that he really doesn't deserve to be a part of. No biggie, though.
