That was the day I vowed to kill the Dark Archer. I became the Canary. I learned to fight, and with the help of Queen Consolidated Applied Sciences Division head Engineer, Felicity Smoak, I continued fight adding in New Gadgets to my Arsenal. Including the Canary Cry, and my electric Batons. Once I found out who he was, I confronted Merlin. We fought for a time that neither of us could begin to recall. But Merlin had tricks up his sleeve. In the end I beat him, but the Magicians final card, was leveling the Glades, murdering everyone inside. Including my Boyfriend Tommy. I pledged that day to fight not only for my agenda, but to save those of Starling City, by using the gadgets and Techniques I've learned. My name is Laurel Lance. For 13 years I've fought to make sure that no other family in Starling loses a brother or a sister. To do that, I had to become something else, I had to become someone else.

A duck aids an injured canary as they both prepare to fly south for the winter. With the winter season under way, everyone is making preparations. This includes hibernation, migration, and adaptation. Wilbur, a young duck, is preparing to head south with his family, while Lotte, a young wild canary, is preparing to leave with her family. But their paths meet when both collide during flight, resulting in Lotte injuring one of her wings. Guilt-ridden by his reckless actions, Wilbur is forced to accompany Lotte in agreement between their folks before the migration. During Lotte's recovery, the pair begin to develop a wholesome friendship.

Trying to cope with Nyssa's death, Sara and Laurel blame each other for the assassin's passing. Meanwhile, Felicity makes her feelings known to Oliver. Sequel to Tears of the Canary.
