Harry Potter is a world renowned series for its themes of friendship across the four houses of Hogwarts. The series reflects on the importance of self-sacrifice and the idea that love is the force that can ultimately overcome evil, a theme central to both Christianity and Harry's journey. The bravery of Harry and his friends in the face of trials and oppression. The conquering of evil in the form of Voldemort by the good of Harry. Harry is that of a Christ-like figure, coming to terms with his powers and that he is the chosen one to defeat Voldemort, who can be seen as a satanic creature. Harry Potter can be seen as a Christ-like figure through his self-sacrifice to save others, especially when he willingly faces death to defeat evil. His ultimate victory symbolizes hope and the triumph of love over darkness. Harry as a character does not use power to show his strength when facing Voldemort, much like when Jesus confronted the devil. Voldemort embodies a satanic figure through his obsession with power, rejection of love, -despite Harry extending the olive branch of redemption- and use of dark magic to defy death. His fall mirrors the downfall of Lucifer-once gifted, but consumed by pride and a desire to dominate. My senior capstone from college. As one can see a lot was put into it and a lot could be done to revamp and make it better. Happy reading!!
