A Spies of Dregiol novel. Where before the forests were filled with birds, now there is a dark figure following the wagon train as it wends through the cold mountain passes. Slowly, Salya pieces the story together. Bren is a spy with information about an assassination attempt on the queen of the white city, and now he is too injured to take the news across the mountains alone. Salya must choose: let Bren journey to the kingdom of Dregiol, alone, hunted, and wounded; or abandon her family in the scant hope that together they will be able to save the kingdom before the assassins strike.

A young man watches his family and friends get murdered before his very eyes. Fueled with revenge he sets out to find these killers and bring peace to a kingdom in ruin... (Sorry for putting it on hold. I'm just lacking the inspiration right now. And I'm trying to focus on my other stories. I WILL finish this someday but not yet. I will also be going through it and patching up some spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. Since this was my first book and all I feel I should have it looking better. Soon after leaving their plantation in Shu Han, they realize that there was something far more valuable in the shipment than just saffron, a substance that attracts trouble from enemies all over the nation, making their caravan the most desirable target on the Trail. Along the way, they make valuable alliances, face treacherous enemies, and traverse hostile terrain. With a deadline looming over their heads and a vicious enemy following their every move, Zara and Zhed must learn to adapt or face the consequences. There'd be no mourners at their funeral.
