Franklin, Ohio, 1965. That day comes during an illegal race on a back road everyone calls Dead Man's Curve. Sheriff Vale's son loses control and hits a tree. Eddie's Chevrolet never touches his car, but Danny saw what happened in the seconds before the crash. When the police start asking questions, he protects his brother with a lie. Soon the whole town has its own version of the race, and Danny has to decide how long he can keep repeating his. Everybody in Franklin thinks they know what happened. Danny is the only one who was sitting beside Eddie when it did.
