What if the movie wasn't just a fantasy but based in truth? Ruby's not thrilled about the proposition David proposes, but her life in Los Angeles isn't going anywhere. Moving to Santa Cruz, living in a cave with four teenage vampires, and trying to get a horror film about vampires made by Hollywood? That's a lot more fun. It might even turn out to be an eternal party... -- I began The Carousel Series nearly 20 years ago. "To The Shock of Miss Louise" is republished here in its original form, unchanged. That means you get to see all the mistakes; a lack of punctuation, bad grammar and sorely needing an editor. The bones of the story are solid and it's cringe-worthy now but it was my first major piece of fan fiction and I'm still immensely proud of it. TLSOMS would end up spawning three sequels, which are part of the Carousel Series and can be found here, on Wattpad, as well. Leaving the drinkers was the first brutal step, not towards healing, not towards clarity, but toward staying alive long enough to have a chance. This is the opening piece of *Carousel of Destruction*, a prequel cycle to *Barbed Wire Psalms* about the gravity of addiction, the people who kept spinning, and the moment you stepped off the ride.
