The shadowhunters of 1903, 1878, and 2015 find themselves all together, with a new threat that is connected to them all. To make matters worse, chaos ensues because Jem and Tessa are engaged, james and cordelia are at odd ends, Lily just told Clary about Janus, and Julian is contemplating proposing to emma.

Will and Jem find themselves in a london they no longer recognize, so they go to the institute only to find they are familar with nobody, and they ask for Tessa Gray, the london institute informs her and her husbad she's been asked for. While the Carstairs and Kit are on the way to London, its plagued with Daytime demon attacks and through a portal comes the cosul and his family, to make matterx worse, Clary and Jace work with Emma and Julian on reforming the clave in Alec's absence, until a familiar evil is encroaching on them.
