Rapunzel forces Varian and Cassandra to go looking for a missing person named Brave. While they are out things take an unexpected turn for the worse, and Varian finds himself alone. Not willing to go back to Rapunzel and Corona without Cassandra he does everything he can to right the wrongs and get back to Corona safely with Cassandra. But others have different plans. And it takes longer than expected to get back to Corona.

Drawing by @ kade02mangaka Varian decides to visit Cassandra. On his way, the captain of the guard stops him and chains him into a wagon. The wagon starts moving and after hours, it is far from Corona. The guards let him down and he finds himself in an unknown place. Where will it be? Will he ever be able to go back? Will he ever win Cassandra's heart? Read the story to find out!

On the day of hearts, a fourteen-year-old Varian looks forwards to his first dance, unfortunately, as the day goes on he realizes that everybody is too afraid to dance with him. Afterward Quirin and Cassandra try to comfort him. A one-shot that can also be taken as a prequel to Birthday Kisses, the idea was suggested by Rosette on AO3. Varian has a crush on Cassandra - Cassandra just sees him as a friend.

So Varian and Cassandra love each other, but can't be together because Gothel disapproves of Varian. Cass is engaged to Andrew, and Quirin tries to match Varian with Faith. In a performance Varian sings about this and reflects of him and Cass.
