What does one do when they slowly and painfully watch the world around them turn into a nightmare? Do we stand there and do nothing? Do we fight with all out might? But what if its too late? ... I sat against the tree, the rough bark leaving slight feelings of pain on my back. I tried to not look at the body that lied dead in front of me. I took slow breaths trying to calm myself. I held onto my backpack as if it was my life. My head throbbed against the tree and the pain in my arm was stronger than ever. But none of that compared to the grief I felt inside.
