In a desperate attempt to be reunited with Lightning, Francesco follows the Friar Blevins' plot and fakes his own death. The message fails to reach Lightning, and believing Francesco dead, he takes his life in her tomb. Francesco wakes to find Lightning's corpse beside him and kills himself.
