Catherine Rose Jessup, a young Terran widow, time travels from 1810 to the year 2544. There she meets Alynx Ardeth, a Pangeran. They begin a friendship as he helps her adapt fo her new century. They eventually move to the Pangere Deep Space Station closer to his home planet. She learns to adapt and starts a new life in her new century.
