I wrote this because I wanted to write on the topic of religion. I'm mostly just keeping my writing here for a memory.

The Color Blue. A gay teen in a Catholic school, what could possibly go wrong. Did I mention I'm non binary and a person or color... Everyone from 200 miles away knew what was going to happen. Especially when a blue eyed senior makes his way into my life. Blue is a color often found in nature, such as the pale blue of a daytime sky or the rich dark blue of a deep pool of water. It is for this reason, perhaps, that people often describe the color blue as calm and serene. Yet as a cool color, blue can sometimes seem icy, distant, or even cold. From the moment I looked in his eyes. I knew I would forever be screwed.

They called it devotion before they called it sin. At Saint Aurelius Academy, faith is treated as salvation, and obedience is mistaken for purity. Teetee has spent his entire life trying to become the perfect believer: the perfect son, the perfect student, the perfect boy untouched by forbidden desire. Every prayer upon his lips is a plea for God to rid him of the feelings he cannot kill. Then Por arrives like a storm against stained glass. Cold-eyed, sharp-tongued, and openly dismissive of religion, Por believes God abandoned people like them long ago. To him, faith is not comfort but cruelty dressed in holy words. Yet beneath his anger lies a loneliness so profound it threatens to consume him whole. They were never meant to understand each other. But somewhere between whispered prayers, trembling hands, candlelight, and secrets buried beneath chapel walls, hatred begins to resemble longing. And love-terrifying, devastating love-forces them to confront the parts of themselves they were taught to destroy. One boy believes God is everything. The other believes He is nothing. And between heaven and ruin, they find each other.

His strict, religious childhood, and expectful parents have left him as a dysfunctional, self-loathing mess. And it only becomes worse when he finds himself falling in love with people that he shouldn't fall in love with. Qibli, Moon, Turtle, and Kinkajou all have been observing Winter's downward spiral with quiet concern. They want to help him, but are unsure how to do so. But how could they ever give up on their beloved friend? Well, they can't. So, they devote their time to dragging Winter out of despair, and showing him love, something he has never had, in the process. ☆ 4/18/2024 -
