Cato and Clove, the tributes from District Two, have trained their entire lives for the 74th hunger games, working and pushing harder and harder until they can live up to the expectations that come with being a career tribute. And that's exactly what happens. But there is one person who is willing to stick up for her, to save her from a swarm of blood-thirsty children who will do anything to appear tough. And just like that, an inseparable bond. But when Clove is fifteen, her father beats down upon his only daughter and threatens her. If she doesn't volunteer this year, he will disown her, leave her on the streets to fend for herself...or starve to death.
