What does it actually feel like to be erased? Everyone talks about the Winter Soldier like he's just this scary story, but they don't see the parts that got buried along the way. They see the missions and the name, but they weren't there when his whole life was being ripped apart. They didn't see him being broken down and rebuilt into someone he doesn't even recognize. People remember the name. But they have no idea what was lost to make it.

Everything hurts. That is the first coherent thought he manages to hold onto as he forces one foot in front of the other. The pain is not sharp or clean but vast and consuming, seeping into bone and settling there as if it has always belonged. Heat burns beneath his torn clothes while snow gathers in his medium length brown hair and clings to his lashes. Each breath scrapes his lungs raw, and every step through the sixteen inches of snow feels like wading through wet cement. Behind him, a dark red trail stains the white, vivid and accusing. - Third Person, omniscient. EXTREME SLOW BURN - Steve doesn't appear until Chapter 5. Steven Rogers was man out of his time, but he was finally getting used to the world in 2014 when Tony, as always, had to do something stupid. After Tony not-so-accideally activated an ancient Asgardian rune stone, Steve was sent back in time, to lean about earth shattering secrets that his parents didn't think to tell him and he didn't even know about. Stuck in a body that looked almost exactly like his own, but horrifyingly wasn't, Steve learns that he had a twin brother, he wasn't the only one the serum was used on, it was his fault the whole time that Bucky had fallen off of the train, but most importantly, Steve learned that he had been the one to create the Winter Soldier. Living a life incredibly similar to his first life in the US army, he wonders what would happen if he was just unable to go back to 2014 and the Avengers. Maybe, he could just stay where he was in the beginning, despite being on the opposite side of the war. (I'm in the process of getting a better cover.)

A soldier out of time. That's how Peggy Carter is usually described. All of her friends from her past are either dead or extremely old. And then, someone from her past shows up. But it's not really him. This is a sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger, in which I reimagined the movie if Peggy had been Captain America and Steve was the SSR Agent. Please read it before reading this one. I have also made a couple of adjustments to the story, mostly the fact that Peggy is bi. This is purely fanfiction and I am not basing this on Canon.
