Her face remained wide-eyed and shocked; even more so of her seemingly foreign action. Black poured down the wound in a heavy rain, spraying around her as she violently ripped something out of her chest. It was a heart. Her heart. Tendrils of black and long tendons still attached the heart to the inside of her chest, permitting the organ to continue to beat. As if falling obediently to a higher power, she landed on her knees and held her heart up. It was an offering to whatever had done this to her, and I watched with morbid curiosity. I wondered for a moment if this had killed her, but quickly knew against it. She was alive still, I could see her heart trying desperately to pump blood. I felt another presence in the room, one much heavier. The shadows in the corner of the room shifted to contort into a black figure. The figure approached slowly, taking time with each step to reach the demoness. My chest felt heavy. - Some of these characters are not my own, yet I promise to use them in a way that is suitable to their creators.
