One day he was out hunting with his dad and older brothers and the next he was falling into a frozen lake while wrapped up warm by a snake before passing out. When he woke up, he was in an unfamiliar place. He didn't recognize anything or anyone.
So he pounced as soon as he was able. He figured they had taken him somewhere and planned on returning to his family one day. They taught him their language while he was there, taught him about their culture.
He never planned on falling in love with his captor, but here he was. The boy was simply irresistable to him, and apparently to the enemy as well. His enemies attacked while he was at something called a school, eating a meal with Josiah, when his enemies attacked.
After killing them all, he knew he had to leave. So he took what little he had with him and left.
But Josiah followed him, said that if he was leaving, he would follow.
"I love you Ragnar." Mouth agap, he stood there for a moment before swallowing his pride and whispering, "I love you too Josiah."
