The Storm is the foundation, the book that sets the stage for the series, The Cayhill Three Mysteries, and introduces the main characters: Lylle Cayhill, his wife Avila Pembroke-Cayhill and their three children 16-year-old Acer, 13-year-old Dahlia and 10-year-old Alec who find their lives turned upside down when Aunt Rebecca Pembroke, who prefers to be called Aunt Becca arrives to deliver the shocking news that Lylle and Avila are missing possibly dead. The heirs to the Cayhill fortune find their world shattered and they aren't sure who to trust as things aren't as they seem. Then there is Debra, their father's assistant who has disappeared and Suzanne, their mother's assistant, who won't answer her phone. Relatives and friends converged on Cayhill mansion; trying to convince the Cayhill three that their parents won't be coming home, but the children know it's not true.
