1957, Moscow.
Twelve-year-old Katya Volkov spends more time staring at the stars than sleeping. While other children dream about ordinary futures, Katya dreams about rockets, orbit calculations, and the impossible idea of reaching space itself.
Ever since the launch of Sputnik 1 changed the world overnight, Katya has become obsessed with the sky above her. She fills notebooks with physics equations, sneaks onto rooftops to stargaze in the freezing cold, and stays awake long past midnight trying to calculate the satellite's path across Earth.
But in a country racing toward the future, curiosity can be dangerous.
Caught between strict teachers, worried parents, and a world changing faster than anyone can understand, Katya refuses to let go of her dream-even when everyone tells her the stars are too far away.
Because somewhere beyond the clouds, history is waiting.
And Katya Volkov plans to reach it.
the sky isn't the limit. it's the beginning.
