Cedric stood just off to the side of it all, momentarily still in the tide of movement. As a sixth-year, he should have been used to this, should have been part of the noise, greeting friends, helping younger students, slipping quickly back into an easy routine. And yet, for reasons he couldn't quite explain, this year, for once he was not stressing about helping everyone go where needed but he found himself simply watching instead, quietly taking everything around him in.
That was when he noticed her, at first, she was nothing more than a dark flicker in the crowd,a girl standing slightly apart from the rush, her presence oddly steady against the constant motion around her, she was standing alone beneath the shadow of the Great Hall's enchanted ceiling, watching a storm that wasn't really there. From where he was standing he couldn't get a good look of her, constantly getting pushed by a sea of people making it hard to, but one thing he did notice was her dark black hair, it had no softness to it, no glossy, no warm, but mute, swallowing the warm yellow light from the hundreds of candles floating above
