WATTPAD ORIGINAL EDITION In 1955, mixed-race Ethan Harper leaves his progressive hometown for a summer in Alabama where he's not welcome, except by resident free spirit, Juniper Jones. ***** After getting himself into a bout of trouble, 16-year-old Ethan Harper's parents send him to Ellison, Alabama, to live with his aunt and uncle for the summer. But the year is 1955, and Alabama is a far cry from his beloved home of Arcadia, Washington. As much as it's hotter in temperature, it's colder in every other way, and Ethan learns the hard way that people see his mere existence as a threat. Amidst all the mayhem, a fiery, free-spirited, oddball walks into Ethan's life. Her name is Juniper Jones. She is the first person in Ellison who seems unfazed by their racial differences, and she promises to give Ethan a summer he will always remember, filled with endless adventure and discovery. With Juniper, Ethan can breathe, he can be, despite the incessant attention and bullying their newly formed friendship attracts. Can the two survive the summer, run in the light and block out the noise of the outside world? [Published version comes out June 16, 2020 with Wattpad Books!] [[word count: 70,000-80,000 words]]

WATTPAD BOOKS EDITION. There are some friends you never forget. It's the summer of 1955. For Ethan Harper, a biracial kid raised mostly by his white father, race has always been a distant conversation. When he's sent to spend the summer with his aunt and uncle in small-town Alabama, his blackness is suddenly front and center, and no one is shy about making it known he's not welcome there. Enter Juniper Jones. The town's resident oddball and free spirit, she's everything the townspeople aren't-open, kind, and accepting. Armed with two bikes and an unlimited supply of root beer floats, Ethan and Juniper set out to find their place in a town that's bent on rejecting them. As Ethan is confronted for the first time by what it means to be black in America, Juniper tries to help him see the beauty in even the ugliest reality, and that even the darkest days can give rise to an invincible summer . . .

He was rich. I was...more or less a struggle in the making than poor really. He was kind. I was not, but I didn't care. Kindness never got you anywhere in life. You had to work for what you wanted, and take what was yours before someone else got to it first. I wasn't sad about the way things were. I loved where I lived. I loved what I did. And I especially loved the fact that I could take care of myself without the assistance of someone else. I was a boss; a survivor. Sometimes you had to step on a few toes to make your way up to the top. No one told him to get in my way. No one told him to care about me. Nobody to him to wedge himself into my life. I was fine without him. Truly, I was. But now I need him in more ways than I could've ever imagined. I need him like a swimmer needed a fresh breath of air after being submerged under water. I needed him for better or worse. I needed him in sickness and in health. I needed him for richer or for poorer... Forced to spend the summer of her senior year with her eccentric Auntie Vera, Taylor-Jade is supposed to "find herself" before she's off to college soon. This was a completely different world from the one Jade knew at home in New York. When she runs into Nathan, a local golden boy and heir to the Walters Company Empire, Taylor-Jade does her best to steer clear of him. Some rich, happy-go-lucky, goody-two-shoes was not her definition of a fulfilled summer in Cali. Nathan however, always seemed to find himself in Taylor-Jade's way, the last place any sane person would ever want to be. Can these two manage to make it through the summer without butting heads?

There were lots of sirens on the morning of October the eighth, enough to unsettle the best of us; and definitely enough to bring the town of Santasport to life. Three cars were parked outside: one was a big white ambulance and the other smaller ones were checked police cars. The paramedics had asked our examiner to get all of us out while they dealt with the body. One of them looked at me- his huge eyes appearing to gaze into my very soul. The look in his pupils confirmed what I already knew- Asa Griffith Jericho was gone. His reign of terror over me had finally ended. He was first to die, but not the last. ~*~* ___ Warning: This book contains themes of murder, depression and bullying. KIM TAEHYUNG X READER The fields are a parsley-green that are common during the new spring season. The fog of winter lifts and strands of sunlight come from the parting clouds in the sky. A breeze so cool and gentle sends welcome goosebumps across the skin of those basking in the warmed weather. Spring is the calm after the war, placing the world back together piece by piece after harsh winter. Spring is the love after heartbreak and the warmth after the blizzard. The season of spring is full of promises, full of tenderness and peace. This spring day in particular grants a benevolent girl and a gentle boy a love so fierce and colourful, you might think it belongs in a painting. They learn how to love, heal, and Taehyung might just learn some sign language.

"Isabella-Rose wait! Rosie! Wait, please stop!" but I didn't listen I just kept going, the humiliation was just giving me enough motivation to get far away from him as fast as I can. But then then he eventually caught up and stepped in front of me and he held my big shoulders. But I refused to look at him in the eye so my eyes were glued to the ground. "Look at me." he said with such a demanding tone that I just gave in and looked up. "I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings, I told you that I love you and that I care about you, but just not the way you want me to. You're my best friend's niece Isabella-Rose. You're like my little sister. I deeply care about you, and I like our conversations, I don't want us to stop talking to each other. But I'm just way too old for you, I'm 24 you're 17 that's a 7 year age gap. That's way too old." as he said all this I couldn't stop thinking of how foolish I've been.
