Sam, Colby, Celina, Kris, and Kris' younger sister Taylor travel to visit the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in West Virginia. Taylor later discovers something that was not expected to be found, and changes all of their lives

Sam Golbach and Jake Webber have always been best friends, even after death. So when they were assigned their humans to look after, they were ecstatic to find out they were friends. They enjoyed their jobs, it gave them a sense of completion to keep humans safe from the mythical creatures that hide out of sight. Sam felt a pit in his stomach when he found out his human dabbled in witchcraft, though, knowing how dangerous it can be. Nonetheless, he was both nervous and excited for the upcoming years. Colby Brock and Tara Yummy have always been close friends since birth, and while Tara was more skeptical about mythical creatures and ghosts, Colby believed in them, and even dabbled in witchcraft a little. At the age of 16, everyone is assigned a Guardian Angel. To say they weren't thrilled would be an understatement, it would simply be another inconvenience to them.

After Sam partakes in a particular ritual, the gates are opened. When a lost soul attaches itself to him for help, the debate is on whether she is a spirit that is good... or evil. Sam trusts her, Colby doesn't, as he seems to be attacked whenever she manifests. Sam soon learns how to harness his new gift, learning it might not be as bad as he thought. He was a beacon, now... A lighthouse for the lost to be found.
