Red meets a fellow prisoner on Helion 7 whose very identity makes her a target for both sides, but who might be the key for his freedom. With New Elysium now in command of two of the largest warships ever built by Neo-Tokyo, the Aphelion, and the Perihelion, they are a formidable force on their own. Enough to keep Neo-Tokyo in check. But the Virus that started the Purge has resurfaced, now in the form of a weapon used to control augments and those in control of the virus have decided to make New Elysium their testing ground. As Red recovers from his fight with Darius Dawson, he struggles to regain the memories, sensing that Darius told him something important, something that could give a man redemption or destroy New Elysium out from under them.

Something is creeping through the systems, and a dark shadow has befallen cyberspace. After Red rescued Ember from the clutches of her father, and almost died in the process, he is recuperating on New Elysium. Their moment of respite is brief, as a series of mysterious glitches soon spread throughout the systems of the colony, and a bounty is set on Ember's head for betraying her Neo-Tokyan heritage. An unexpected reunion with a former friend turned enemy leaves Nova injured and grounded on New Elysium as well. As Amy embarks on a mad off-world quest to find a rare piece of hardware needed to save him, dragging Red along with her, Nova and Ember are left to deal with the fallout from the resurrection of an evil that several years ago, led to the Purge of all augments. What is a flash fiction? It is a challenge where you create original short stories that are between 500-1000 words based on genre, location, and object that is given. In this case though we'll be using writing promps. The challenge that was set: Set a timer for 30-45 minutes and just write on that topic. When the time is up just stop writing. The point of the challenge? Not to finish the story, but to get into the habit of writing daily. Plus for the fun of it, and to challenge yourself. You can always go back later and change or expand a story if you want.

When mechanized humans, known as "augs" fell prey to a whole new set of viruses aimed at controlling them, they were imprisoned out of fear. Anyone caught with any robotic implants were sent to the Helion prison complex, and purged from normal society. Even those who used to serve humanity. One such aug, Red, imprisoned for seven years in Helion dreams of escape. Initially recalled and stripped of his command of Aphelion, he dreams of escape which begins to shape into a reality when a new augment is dropped into the facility. One whose very identity would mean death from either side of the conflict.
