WARNING - This book contains mature themes. Sensitive readers may find some content upsetting. Ages 18 and up to read only. Cover from CANVA AI. Every kid has read them, or had them read to them. Fairy Tales, those legends and myths that evoked our imagination, captured our hopes and fears. Hope that no matter what evil witches, dragons or other obstacles we face, we can overcome and have a happily ever after. In the Disney versions. The Originals weren't made to package and sell a new age of romanticism to a youth who could grow up without the pallor of War and Poverty. Those stories were a warning, passed down from generation to generation. A chance to get away from the mundane is usually the start. Marina was a Princess in a thriving Kingdom, lost in daydreams and adventures until she rescues a handsome, drowning prince. Cue heartache at not having something she wants. What is a Princess to do? Naturally, she sacrifices her entire life to a Sea Witch for a chance to prove her love to the man she saved. And then she kills herself. That's how The Little Mermaid went. If only I had been that lucky. Which brings us to the other end of the spectrum. Rumpelstiltskin. What a mouthful. Even reading it is a pain. The King comes by and tells a poor family pay taxes or you die. Struggling to survive and facing execution from an idiot King, the millers daughter makes a deal with a little Demon - her firstborn for gold. What's a poor peasant woman to do? NATURALLY she agrees. For some reason, that idiot woman who made two impossible promises was saved by guessing the weirdest, most singular name in the world in a loophole to her contract. If not for copy and paste, that name wouldn't be around. Not a princess - not a peasant. I was a cashier. You'd think that would make me closer to the unnamed Queen. No one knew my name even though I had a name badge. What's a cashier to do when she goes up against an Evil Witch and her Son? Step into my fairy tale to find out.

The dead are always walked home. The living aren't always so fortunate. Bren has spent his entire life believing he knew where he belonged. In the forest village of Hearthwood, life is simple. Children learn their family patterns, musicians carve flutes, traders arrive each month, and the dead are carried home by those who loved them. But after walking a man to his ancestral mound, Bren uncovers a truth that unravels everything he believed about himself. Far away in the walled city of Aethryss, Verakh has spent his life earning a place no one expected him to hold. Once a refugee with nothing, he has become one of the city's most respected political figures. Yet beneath honour and prestige lies a past he has spent years trying to bury. Belonging is not always inherited. And not every river leads home. Anam: The River of Names By Jared DeBarra - TheZenPenguin

Heather Burns never imagined she was a witch, she also never imagined that a redhead druid and her would murder a demon pretending to be her partner on a history project and throw her into a world of magic and danger with gods and faeries aiming for her dead or as a servant and a prophecy saying she will defeat or join her father who she never even heard of before. *image not owned by me*

With every mile they travel along the Wild Atlantic Way, the line between history and legend begins to blur. As their friendship quietly grows into something far more dangerous, Ewelina must confront the fears that have shaped her entire life. But Ireland has always kept its greatest stories until the very end. And not every legend is meant to be believed. A slow-burn love story woven into the legends of Ireland.

Two women. Two tied destinies. Two millennia. One enigmatic sword. My name is Jamie Poole, and I’m destined to help the Departed. Yeah, I hear dead people. I’m a kid from a single-parent home in “Small Town, USA.” All I want is outta here, go to college, and see the world. Jamie Poole debuts in this pilot novel, The Isle of Osiris, which will appeal to young and old alike. It is the first Diary recording her adventures which will take her around the world and through time and space. Jamie has many mysteries to unravel. One is helping the Departed. Another is sorting out exactly who her dad is. Neither is an easy task. Regarding her destiny she says: All of us are born with destinies. You were born with a destiny, even if you don’t realize it yet. My destiny comes with a unique gift. I hear the Dead. I am called to help those who died too soon or at the hands of Evil and right the injustice. An easy task. Not! She further states: I met Dad when I was twelve. My dad is a complicated, secretive man. Jamie Poole’s Diaries are hidden books documenting experiences not intended for the world to see. And yet she wishes people to know “My story is lengthy, sometimes a bit complicated, but it’s a story worth telling, even if hiding it was necessary. I did so regretfully. I needed to leave a testimony that said I lived, and yes, what happened did happen! And was truly amazing.” The Diaries of Jamie Poole is a carefully planned series set across the globe and across time. It is full of history, science, and science fiction. Above all: adventure and unexpected thrills. This combination creates a cocktail readers will hunger to consume.
