Snadger Smith was born in the 1890s in Central Victoria, Australia. The son of a miner and the great grandson of families that emigrated from the United Kingdom and Ireland. Snadger joins the Australian Infantry Forces in 1915 and sees action on the Western Front in France and Belgium until 1919. He makes friendships in the war but tragedy will follow him throughout his time overseas. He returns to Australia after the war and becomes a recluse and a miner/fossicker in the goldfields of Central Victoria. He struggles with post traumatic stress and guilt. By chance he meets a young country boy from town and the two become unlikely friends. Through their friendship the boy learns about life and the old man finally learns to forgive himself.

'Science And Sorcery' came about from an idea I developed after a number of conversations with a friend of mine. Initially it was just a fun thought idea, but after thinking about it some more I decided to write a one-off short story. I ended up falling in love with the characters so much that one story turned into more (three at time of posting), and so here we are. I've decided to put all of the current stories on here in one go. Bare in mind, these are unfinished ideas that have developed as I went from one to another, so there may be some inconsistencies. As for the future of this series, I'm not sure yet. I really enjoy writing them and the characters are some of my favourites, so who knows where we might end up. Stay tuned :D
