Principal Chad Smith currently serves as the Coordinator of Pupil Services for the Capistrano Unified School District, in San Juan Capistrano, California. Chad served as the Principal of South Hills High School in West Covina, California and the Assistant Principal at Tustin High School in Tustin, California. Chad Smith Principal believes that it is the duty of every educator to create extraordinary futures for their students. Putting the needs of students at the focus of all we do is his driving philosophy of education. Principal Chad Smith was an Earth Science and Oceanography teacher at Baldwin Park High School and Fullerton High School before landing back at his Alma Mater, Tustin High. In 2007-2008, Chad became the Assistant Principal at Tustin High and has served in the Discipline office, Facilities office and as the Curriculum and Instruction AP. Chad developed and implemented several specialized programs including a STEM program, 1:1 notebook computer program, the online learning platform at THS, as well as expanded and enhanced Tustin High's AVID program, ASB program and MUN program. Principal Chad Smith has been an integral part of the renaissance at Tustin High School. He championed the new bell schedule, prepared and implemented the THS Technology plan, introduced a tutorial period within the school day, developed and implemented the RtI program and the THS freshman academy. In 2009, Chad was named the ACSA Region 17 Co-Administrator of the year. Chad's expertise in instructional technology, curriculum and specialized program development made him a perfect fit for South Hills High.

Principal Chad Smith is a high school educator, and a proud father of two, is a taekwando black belt and an all-around sports enthusiast. For years he balanced his career between teaching science and coaching basketball, track, and football in three high schools in California. Now Chad enjoys doing taekwando with his eight-year-old son and eleven-year-old daughter on a regular basis. Chad's first coaching position was at Fullerton High School in Orange County, where he coached varsity track and freshman football in addition to teaching earth science and oceanography for grades 9-12. Chad and his children regularly go to "rumbles" (sparring tournaments) and continue to stay active and take on new physical challenges whenever they can. Chad also coaches his kids in soccer and baseball. Outside of taekwando, Chad Smith, a principal, loves scuba diving and is a certified Divemaster (DM). He also enjoys snow skiing, a sport which he first tried out during his time as an Urban and Regional Planning major at the University of Utah. He and his wife of 16 years enjoy traveling and exploring new places with their children.

With diverse experience in everything from STEM teaching to curriculum development to extracurricular activities, Chad provides invaluable expertise to the education community. Prior to his storied career in education, Chad Smith, a principal earned a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Utah and a Master's in Planning from the University of Southern California. Although Chad didn't know it yet, his studies in minimizing conflict and improving the health, wellness, and overall livelihood of a population would shape his approach to education administration as well. Principal Chad Smith spent the next seven years excelling across numerous industries. He first gained international experience by preparing economic development projects in Hanoi, Vietnam and Guangzhou, China.
