Principal Chad Smith is an educator who champions more well-rounded, supportive, and technologically innovative methods in schools. With diverse experience in everything from STEM teaching to curriculum development to extracurricular activities, Chad provides invaluable expertise to the education community. Prior to his storied career in education, Chad Smith, a principal earned a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Utah and a Master's in Planning from the University of Southern California. Although Chad didn't know it yet, his studies in minimizing conflict and improving the health, wellness, and overall livelihood of a population would shape his approach to education administration as well. Principal Chad Smith spent the next seven years excelling across numerous industries. He first gained international experience by preparing economic development projects in Hanoi, Vietnam and Guangzhou, China. During his travels Chad noted a rising interest in telecommunications and he founded his own consulting firm, which focused on the acquisition, entitlement and construction of cellular, PCS and digital communication network sites. Chad continued on an entrepreneurial path by building a company that owned several gas stations. His final business venture prior to education was a two-year role as the vice president of a small bank. After earning his teaching certification Principal Chad Smith joined Baldwin Park High School as an Earth Science, Astronomy and Natural Hazards teacher. He then taught Earth Science and Oceanography at Fullerton High School, where he also coached freshman football and varsity track. While Chad embraced his roles as teacher and coach, his long background in leadership and management drove him to aspire even higher. At his Alma Mater, Tustin High School, Chad taught Earth science and also took on the role of ASB Director.

Principal Chad Smith currently serves as the Coordinator of Pupil Services for the Capistrano Unified School District, in San Juan Capistrano, California. Chad served as the Principal of South Hills High School in West Covina, California and the Assistant Principal at Tustin High School in Tustin, California. Chad Smith Principal believes that it is the duty of every educator to create extraordinary futures for their students. Putting the needs of students at the focus of all we do is his driving philosophy of education. Principal Chad Smith was an Earth Science and Oceanography teacher at Baldwin Park High School and Fullerton High School before landing back at his Alma Mater, Tustin High. Chad returned to Tustin as an Earth Science teacher and ASB advisor. Here he coached Football, Basketball and Track. In 2007-2008, Chad became the Assistant Principal at Tustin High and has served in the Discipline office, Facilities office and as the Curriculum and Instruction AP. Chad developed and implemented several specialized programs including a STEM program, 1:1 notebook computer program, the online learning platform at THS, as well as expanded and enhanced Tustin High's AVID program, ASB program and MUN program. Principal Chad Smith has been an integral part of the renaissance at Tustin High School. He championed the new bell schedule, prepared and implemented the THS Technology plan, introduced a tutorial period within the school day, developed and implemented the RtI program and the THS freshman academy. In 2009, Chad was named the ACSA Region 17 Co-Administrator of the year. Chad's expertise in instructional technology, curriculum and specialized program development made him a perfect fit for South Hills High.
