At commencement, Dani reflects on her four years at the Academy and ponders what life in Starfleet may hold for her. Story #3 in the "More Than a Lifetime" series. Author's Note: This story is the third in a series of stories that do not follow canon and should not be taken as such. The first story is "Delta Wild", the second is "Homecoming." The events in these stories occur in an alternate universe in which Chakotay's stint with the Maquis happened much earlier in his life. He is married to Kathryn Janeway, and they have a daughter. T'Rina forms a bond with Tuvok, her fellow Vulcan and confides in him as often as she can, she also forms a bond with B'Elanna Torres who knows what it's like to be trapped between two worlds. This is like 'How I met Her' except instead it's got Nova Grante as Tom's wife still in the Alpha Quadrant. ------------------------------- After Janeway finds a printed piece of paper tucked behind Tom's console, she looks at it seeing a mysterious woman, she was Bajoran and in a Starfleet Medical/Science uniform. That's when she recognised the woman, it was Nova Grante, a famous Doctor who created the neroulogical surgery the EMH had to use to save Harry Kim, however the surgery was so complex that only the EMH's and Nova Grante herself knew the procedure. Janeway then comes to the realisation that Tom Paris has a printed holoimage of Dr. Nova Grante behind his console. Tom walks into the Mess Hall late in the evening only to be practically ambushed by B'Elanna Torres and Harry Kim, two of his best friends. B'Elanna and K'Ehleyr Torres are twin sisters, they're identical twins except in some physical features and their attitudes, K'Ehleyr is more level headed than her sister. Unlike B'Elanna, K'Ehleyr graduated from the Academy and became a Starfleet officer. K'Ehleyr is stationed on Voyager as the Second Officer when she meets Tom Paris who's an observer while Voyager looks for the Maquis when things go all wrong, Voyager gets stuck 70,000 light years from home, K'Ehleyr reunites with B'Elanna after three years of not seeing her, then things get harder as K'Ehleyr falls in love with Tom Paris, but is too scared to admit it.
