Carl, który od zawsze nie miał problemu ze swoją sytuacją ekonomiczną jest człowiekiem nieoszczędnym i rozrzutny Eliot zaś, przybrany brat Carla, jest powściągliwy na każdym kroku.Nadal ma w głowie swoją poprzednią sytuację życiową. Za wszelką cenę stara się dopasować do nowego miejsca tak by nie oddali go do kolejnej rodziny zastępczej. Wygląd tych dwóch chłopców też jest całkiem różny. Carl to blondyn o niskim wzroście z niebieskimi oczami, Eliot zaś to całkiem wysoki brunet o zielonych oczach. Czy ludzie z kompletnie dwóch światów będą potrafić się dogadać? Czy Eliot będzie w stanie dopasować się do nowej sytuacji? Czy Carl zaakceptuje niechcianego przez niego nowego brata? Odpowiedzi na te pytania znajdziecie w tej książce.
