I'm not the most amazing artist, but while in my drawing class my teacher said that you can improve by drawing at least one picture a day. I am challenging myself to draw one picture a day this summer. Hopefully, I see some progress.

They always say that someone's true beauty is in the inside. Why is that? Why is our true beauty hidden away from others? People could always fake like they're a good person but you can't fake 'pretty'. Why couldn't it be that if you're kind person than you have a lovely face and vice versa. I was what most would consider a good girl; I did my homework and never talked back. That was how I was raised up to be, obedient and smart. People saw me as one of the guys, the darker one. When life becomes too much I find my escape in art. My stress disappears with a stroke of a paint brush, with the flick of a pencil. These are images trapped inside finally spilled on canvas. These are my thoughts expressed in paint.

I never really thought of myself as depressed. Hell, my family certainly didn't talk about mental health. But even as a child, I've just always felt different, like there was a separation between me and the world. Imagine being an observer of your own life, watching yourself never quite fit in. And over the years, it just got worse. I felt things too deeply, over-analyzed every thought, tried to be everything everyone else wanted. And then, I cracked. I broke, shattering into a million pieces. And no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to put myself back together again. Whether my relief is through therapy or art, I can't seem to escape those thoughts. Thoughts so dark that I paint sadness just to release them. Seeing the world through blue has become my reality. And I pray that once everything is unburdened, a happier me will be set free.
