All my life I had done what I was told. I worked from dawn till dusk. Hardly ever having a moment to myself. My parents treated me like I was a slave, and I had come to believe that I was one. No matter what I did to make them happy, it never worked. Then one day they sold me to a rich stranger. I thought my life was going to be better with him. But I was wrong. It was even worse than before.

High school student Xiao Xiang An is experiencing life in the big city for the first time while she is staying with her distant relatives.
