When Haley loses her best friend in a senseless act of violence, she also loses her ability to make sense of the world around her. Becca was fearless and clever and always, always right--like when she spent months trying to convince anyone who would listen that Todd was dangerous. If someone like her can be wiped out that easily by one reckless boy, how on earth is anxious, withdrawn Haley supposed to make it on her own?
In the aftermath of her (ex) boyfriend's biggest screwup to date, Adri is horrified and furious... and finally free. After years of hiding from her past in Todd's shadow, it's a relief to finally come crawling back into the light, but it's not that easy to ditch the fearsome reputation she let him build her. There may not be any blood on Adri's hands, but that doesn't mean people don't see a murderer when they look at her.
Adri just wants to hide, but Haley wants answers. Luckily, they're both starting to get used to the idea that you can't always get what you want.
