"Aur sirf roti banana hi kaafi nahi hota, Janvi," she said, turning the tawa. Janvi looked up. "Toh aur kya-kya hota hai maa?" Her mother sighed, not tired-just seasoned. "Sab kaam seekhne padte hain. Kapde dhona, bartaan manjhna, subah sabse pehle uthna..." She continued, as if listing everyday items from memory. "Saree pehnna dhang se, pallu sambhalna, ghunghat mein chalna..." Janvi wrinkled her nose. "Ghunghat mein? Maa, dikhega bhi kuch ya bas andhere mein hi chalna padega? Nah baba nah, hum gir gaye toh...Hum nahi daalenge ghunghat vunghat." Her mother smiled briefly but didn't stop. "Aur baat-baat par zubaan sambhalni hoti hai. Bade-buzurgon se izzat se baat, aur..." she paused for half a second, then added, "Pati jo kahe, usse bhi tameez aur adab se sunna hota." Janvi's hands stilled again. "Har baat?" "Har baat," her mother replied quietly. The silence stretched, broken only by the hiss of a roti puffing up. Janvi looked down at the dough stuck to her fingers, then muttered, half-joking, half-serious, "Maa, yeh sasural hai ya gulaami?" Her mother let out a soft, knowing laugh. "Dono samajh le," she said. She handed Janvi a finished roti. "Isliye kehti hoon-yahan seekh le. Baad mein wahan koi sikhata nahi, bas umeed karta hai..aur umeedo pe nahi khade utarne pe sirf taane."

This is the story of Layla who is 16, she is forced to marry Akhil who is also 16 due to some unexpected circumstances __________________________________ Note: this book does not promote child marriage. It is a work of fiction __________________________________ "You are such an asswipe"I said giving him one of my best glares. "Don't you dare swear at me again" he said turning his back towards me. He did not just say that "Oh yeah sure I will fucking listen to you when cows start flying" within seconds he turned around grabbed my waist and pinned me to the wall "You will listen to me because I'm your husband and the next time you swear there will be consequences" he said looking down at my eyes. I just looked at him wide eyed. It was like all the words we're stuck in my throat. He slowly moved back and that's when I retorted back "Pfft! How can I forget that and I still believe that we are not legally married since we are only 16"as soon as I said that he pinned me to the wall once again but this time he held both of my hands on top of my head and with the other one he grabbed my waist. I opened my mouth to complain but he smashed his lips on to mine. The was rough, it was like he was showing his dominance. He squeezed my waist as if telling me to kiss him back and I did, don't ask me why I did it.. We pulled away gasping for air when he spoke "I told you there would be consequences" with that said he smirked at me and walked away leaving me dumbfounded...

"I am his mother. Doesn't matter if I'm not biologically related or not, I raised, and I loved him as my own." ▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎ Kaia believed herself to be a good mother from a young age. It was a lovely thing for her judgement to be correct. But as she got older, she feels that she could've done more with her relationship with Anastacius. Yet, she despised the boys biological mother, and she had returned the feelings. So she couldn't have a better relationship with him. However, he still loved her for her efforts in trying to make a relationship between them. **Shitty description.**

A young woman escapes her abusive family and their misogyny, but remains in constant fear of the man they almost forced her to marry. Is he an actual threat or is Amira overreacting due to the trauma she has experienced? What lengths will Amira and her would-be protectors go to in order for her to feel safe? This short story is based on one of my favorite folktales, "The Queen & the Murderer." If the plot seems a bit implausible at times, please keep its origin in mind.

    | Für meine Mutter, Ç. | "I was never a mischievous person, even when they burned my soul." Giselle is a fifteen year old girl. She has lived her life understanding that when she comes of a particular age she will be married off to a wealthy man. On Giselle's fifteenth birthday she began to realize that this marriage was just around the corner. She was to be married off to a cruel, wealthy man. The day of her wedding she sees that the marriage she knew was a fairy tale that she must leave behind. Giselle's only savior from this wretched man, is a man who has had his heart set on her for ten years. This man will go to whatever lengths it takes to pay Giselle's price. This story is fictional. I would like to stress that it is not based on a true story or has any purposeful resemblance to any real occurrences. The topic of a child bride is something very serious, but I do not have a lot of knowledge on it so I would like to make it clear that this story is not to be taken as accurate or correct. The information from this story is completely made up and any accuracy is 100% accidental. I am not trying to offend anyone by writing a story about this. I have recently been reading a book about this and it sparked some thoughts. I am not trying to be rude to anyone who has anymore knowledge about this sort of topic because I will admit I don't have a lot about it. There are some topics that may be seen as concerning to some. If it is a topic you feel uncomfortable with, then please stop reading. I will give advanced warnings when anything unusual may happen in detail prior to the posted chapter. The cover for this story was made by @DannyFlinn.
