This rhyming poem tells the folklore of the eve of Chinese New Year. In China, this is a legend that is told to kids to explain the traditions of Chinese New Year. It's about a monster who terrorizes the ancient Chinese village and how the villagers learned how to scare the monster away. It's an interesting piece of poetry that allows you to learn about the traditions and culture of ancient China. Fun fact: This legend was originally in Chinese, but I translated it into English since I am bilingual in both Chinese and English! Extra Note: This picture is not mine; it's from the internet.

"Claire, come and help out in the kitchen!" ***** Chinese New Year isn't all that bad if Claire was good at helping. She wasn't as good at her siblings or cousins (all because they're older), which is something... not so good if you want to gain attention from the other relatives. Her life as a Chinese in her home country, Malaysia, isn't really hard. Living with her relatives during Chinese New Year is a challenge though. It's like a never ending loop - It goes on and on every year, with the same things happening. This year... is a little different. Claire just turned 16. Her mother's desire for her to improve her helping abilities has increased drastically. She threatened Claire that if she failed more than half the tasks assigned by her grandma, she'd send her to boarding school. Of course, Claire has to learn a lot more from her friends in the village in order to not get sent to boarding school... ***** Cover by OffxcialKat (Made in Canva by a template)
