As she goes through the next four years of secondary school, she eventually realises the best way to live your adolescence isn't the flashy opportunities but being in a community that can embrace all of you.

(I've worked on this for a long time, off and on, and originally started writing it before 2010, so it roughly takes place around 2003/4. A lot of this is inspired by my high school experience and my issues of being bullied and having friends who were not bullied, but didn't exactly do much to help.)
