Hot shot is a playful and active five year old. He lives with his parents Heatwave and Quickshadow. His father Heatwave is a firefighter and his mother Quickshadow is a stay at mom. They even have their Dalmatian puppy Fireplug who is 10 months old. They live in Fort Worth Texas. Hot shot loves to run, jump, climb and play. He is a very good little boy. Hot shot is full of hopes and dreams. Hot shot is thinking about being a firefighter or a baseball player or zookeeper who works with rhinos or something else when he grows up. In early May Hot shot begins to feel unwell. Hot shot has a bad headache, he has nausea with vomiting, he is tired, he isn't as active as before, he is having trouble with his left leg, and he is cranky. His parents take him to his pediatrician. His pediatrician sends them to Cook children's to get an MRI. The MRI reveals Hot shot has a brain tumor the size of a peach. The tumor is biopsied and Hot shot is diagnosed with Choroid Plexus Carcinoma a type of brain cancer. Hot shot is brave and ready to face his cancer head on. He makes friends with four other children his age with the same type of cancer. They decide to fight their cancer together and become the best of friends. Hot shot was diagnosed with it at the age of five because his symptoms were mild to moderate wasn't showing almost any cyanosis and went unnoticed for the first five years. But at five years old Hot shot was started having problems. His parents took him too his pediatrician who sent them to a pediatric cardiologist. They do tests on Hot shot and discover the defect they were amazed he went undiagnosed but it happen because some people don't find out that have this defect until they are adults. Hot shot is going to need a surgery to fix it and to see a cardiologist on regular basis now.
