I’m not a good girl; I steal, I lie, I cheat, I am a county certified “teenage delinquent” complete with criminal record and all. I know I’m not a good child, and that my parents aren’t exactly proud of me, but I never expected to be sent here. This place is my hell. Waking up at the crack of dawn, no cell phone, no internet, and hell there might as well be dress code for the little amount of clothing you can wear here. I can’t wear my skinnies, my boots, my studs, my piercings, my fishnets, or my hair extensions. This place is hell on Earth and I’m stuck here all summer, roughly three months, about fourteen weeks, one hundred days. FML. You’re probably wondering where the hell I am exactly, or rather what I did to end up here, well I’ve got nothing else to do so grab a chair, sit down, and shut up; it’s story time.

This is my entry for the #SideHustle contest, which follows a 15-year-old girl named Kaira as she tries what are everyday chores for some people for the first time in her life. She doesn't need to, she can ask her parents for anything, but she wants some responsibility for once! Kaira is slightly based off me. I mess everything up, but because I'm clumsy. Kaira isn't clumsy, just inexperienced. Another thing we share in common is that we both want more responsibility, but in different ways. I have a lot, but I am often told what to do. I like to be leader. And not just of other people, of myself, too. I think it's mostly that I just want to be sure that I can, and proud that I can, make sure I get everything done on time and alright. I also had to get a book for school, but my parents payed for it, since it was a school thing.

I published my book on Halloween of 2015, followed by the ebook on Thanksgiving Day of the same year. (There is no significance to the dates ... that's just the way it happened.) You can find Crap Happens...Wallowing Is Optional on amazon.com. I won't "re-do" the chapters I've already shared on Wattpad, but I'll add a few more from the book for your reading pleasure. I sincerely appreciate your comments. At the age of 53, this city "girl" married a dairy farmer. We both lived in North Carolina but, in retrospect, the hundred miles that separated us was nothing compared to the differences in our lifestyles. Cows, cats, chores; mud, machines, manure ... how was I supposed to deal with these foreign matters? This is a humorous, inspirational look at ordinary events on the farm that gave me an extraordinarily bad attitude. However, there is a cure. When life gets stale or downright discouraging, a change in perspective can change an attitude, and a new attitude translates to joy in living.

"Claire, come and help out in the kitchen!" ***** Chinese New Year isn't all that bad if Claire was good at helping. She wasn't as good at her siblings or cousins (all because they're older), which is something... not so good if you want to gain attention from the other relatives. Her life as a Chinese in her home country, Malaysia, isn't really hard. Living with her relatives during Chinese New Year is a challenge though. It's like a never ending loop - It goes on and on every year, with the same things happening. This year... is a little different. Claire just turned 16. Her mother's desire for her to improve her helping abilities has increased drastically. She threatened Claire that if she failed more than half the tasks assigned by her grandma, she'd send her to boarding school. Of course, Claire has to learn a lot more from her friends in the village in order to not get sent to boarding school... ***** Cover by OffxcialKat (Made in Canva by a template)
