As the storm intensifies, the intruder tries to get inside, breaking windows while Claire flees upstairs. She barricades herself in a bedroom, only for the singing to end-and the caroler to suddenly appear inside the room with her. His face reveals itself to be an eerie, faceless mask with an impossibly wide carved smile. The story ends with Claire disappearing, leaving the house silent again, implying the supernatural caroler took her-and that her last moments were spent kneeling before the Christmas tree, as if frozen in place.
