Even when Christophe has never shown her his real face,she feels a certain bond with him which only she acknowledges.She has always had a crush on him,which isn't just a crush anymore Christophe knows he is to marry a girl with a rose tattoo(thanks to his grandmother too),so when he meets Asker,Marianne's jealous big sister,who happens to have a fake tattoo thanks to Christophe's father,he feels he's obligated to love her for destiny's which he can't do. Marianne is adopted.Her foster mother who happens to be her number one enemy ,talks her to suicide during hypnosis, which she tries before the beginning of the book but fails.
