“That I should’ve bought you flowers.” I still remember the only time I bought her flowers. It’s our first monthsary. I still remember how happy she was that time. “And held your hand.” I only hold her hand whenever paparazzis are chasing us. And now I’m longing for her touch. “Should’ve gave you all my hours.” I still remember whenever she’s asking me out and I’m telling her it’s just a waste of time. I’m always telling her I’m writing new songs for my Enchancers. And now, I wanted to spend every minute of my life with her. “When I had the chance, take you to every party. ‘Cause all you wanted to do is dance.” I didn’t even bother taking her to parties that I’m invited. Instead I’m letting her go clubbing with her friends. “Now my baby’s dancing. But she’s dancing with another man.” It’s tearing me apart seeing her dancing with my best friend. Yes. Best friend. I see how happy she is now she’s with my best friend. And now, here I am in pain watching every move she’ll do. I wanted to capture every smile of her. But I am too late. I should’ve do it WHEN I WAS HER MAN.

Hilda Lee is a journalist who recently quit her day job to investigate strange rumours of hikers disappearing in Silverback Mountain. She's not particularly strong or tenacious but she is determined to find the lost hikers dead or alive and learn to understand the supposed swarm of cicadas that call Silverback Mountain home. (I'm super open to constructive critique, it's been quite some time since of written something solo and I'm trying my best to improve! Thank you so much!)
