I sat on the pavement watching people walk in slow motion. I love crowds. I love the way people walk, roughly in one direction, weaving a little, chatting as they go. I watch them, some heads down and lost in thought and wonder what their private worlds are like- each of them viewing this same place, this same day, from a unique perspective. A tall black haired girl walked towards me I was hypnotised by her peridot green eyes. She sat next to me. She smelt like Jasmine. "You like watching crowds too?" "Yeah it's fascinating." We sat in silence watching people go by. I got my cigarette out and lit it, she did the same. I inhaled slowly, my system responding to the smoke, and I felt my lungs being wrapped by a warm blanket. As I blew the smoke out some residual smoke hung in the air shifting like ghosts in the breeze. I got up, dusted my jeans and walked away until the girl grabbed my wrist. "I didn't get your name." She stared at me "Ashley." "Surname?" "Nope we have to be close to know my name." "Can we be close?" She closed the gap between us. I pushed her away then nodded 'no'. She rolled her eyes. "My name is Ruby Devil." "Devil? that's a rare surname." "Yeah I know." "I guess I'm smoking with the devil." I smiled She smiled back, waved then walked away. I watched her walk away swaying her hips. I think I got a lady boner.
