Imi and Klemens grew up together in Erberoon. She has spent years struggling with an abusive father, while he has done everything he can to protect her. When Klemens is given the chance to leave for the capital, the two must face what their separation may bring.
In the capital, Klemens joins the Small Guard and is tasked with protecting Benjamin, heir to the throne of Attalreia. He soon discovers, however, that serving at the young prince's side will not be as simple as it might seem.
Dark clouds begin to gather over the kingdom. Faced with the looming threat, Robern, a general in the royal army, will be forced to make decisions whose consequences will reach far beyond the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Rodon, a former fisherman, joins a peculiar travelling troupe, where he takes a job as a cook. As he gets to know its unusual inhabitants, he finds among them a great beast locked in a cage. The troupe belongs to Viktor, a man who places particular value on anything rare and extraordinary.
Four stories. Different people, different places, and lives that seem to have nothing to do with one another.
And yet none of these stories has been told by chance.
In time, their paths will begin to intertwine.
Because in this story, nothing truly exists on its own.
