Gerard has been a lion tamer at a traveling circus for years. The job itself is easy, but his boss, The Ringmaster, Todd, makes it harder on him by being cruel to anyone who happens to get in his way of being one of the most successful circuses in all of America. Mimey is the mime whom he watches from behind the tent curtain before he gets yelled at by the ringmaster. He adores the sweet, silent man. He's forbidden to talk or give out his real name, as are all other carnies. But the difference is is that Gerard's name is known (Gerard, but he's forced to go by Linus) but with Mimey, only the ringmaster himself knows his name. Both rules decided by Todd. But he stays cheery and still smiles every day. However, Gerard notices his joy slowly being taken from him, and gloom starting to follow him around more and more. He's been becoming secretive as well. What's been going on? And why is he never around? This worries Gerard and makes him start to ponder what's really happening behind closed doors. It was just like any other old day working in a travelling circus. The tent was being inflated, so the main acts congregated nowhere in particular. They just practiced their respective acts. The contortionist twisted themselves around the velvet roped dangling from a crane. The sword swallower worked carefully, pulling a silver dagger from her throat. The magician worked alone in a corner, pulling a white dove from their undershirt's sleave, then putting in into a rusted bird cage. The trapeze artist spun on a blue silk, doing flips above the giant's head, poking his nose and cheeks with each few turns. The ring leader paid no mind to the crew of freaks, or the abundance of nondescript vehicles passing by as the hot day wavered on.

Circus AU where Lance is an aerial dancer & Keith is a knife thrower. Lance was busy the day of Keith's audition so it is a surprise to see a mullet with a puppy walk into the tent during practice. Keith wants to start over using the skills his mom taught him before she left. They literally run into each other and realize that maybe things are different from what they have heard and that there is a chance to have a happy ending.

She looked as if she was flying. The girl was probably doing basic tricks, but to me, they looked professionalized. She spun and flipped and danced in the air. I wanted to fly like that. It was the most angelic thing I had ever seen. "Do you always stare like that, Starry eyes?" Of course, she had the classic American mid-Atlantic accent. Oh shit, she was also talking to me. A miraculous x greatest showman au (and some college au thrown in there). A sad start when Marinette Dupain-Cheng ends up living alone after a tragic accident. She starts a job at the famous Agreste circus to gain money and it is here she becomes face to face with a familiar boy, Adrien Agreste. Although she recognises him he can't return the favour as a mask covers her face, to him she is only known as Ladybug, the famous acrobat. If only he knew his close friend Marinette was the one he was falling for... In this story, there is no magic, Chat Noir and Ladybug, as well as other characters, are in this story but they're not displayed with the miraculous/magic or akumatizations or anything like that. There is some adrienette, ladrien and ladynoir throughout this story but I have included a tiny bit of lukanette and adrigami in there too (sorry if you don't like those ships, I don't either, to be honest, but those relationships add a little more random detail to the storyline so why not). Characters aren't made by me - a fanfiction based on the show Miraculous Ladybug.
