Salvia, or just Sal, Woods isn't normal by far, it may be because she doesn't have many friends. And that's maybe because she likes to write crazy poems in the margins of her tests she never finishs. Or maybe she's extraordinary because she can control the water with a flick of her hands. Other than those things she had a pretty normal-ish life with her grandparents in Chicago, but all that comes to an end when she, and her friend Nilo are shown why they are the way they are. Suddenly she's in a new world, a new life, and everything seems fine again. But Sal has gifts she never knew she had and things that want to take them from her, at any cost.
