Three months had passed since the defeat of Emperor Nefarious, and Ratchet was considering using the Dimensioner created by Clank in the hopes of finding more Lombax. After much thought, and overcoming his strange fear, Ratchet invites Rivet and Kit to go with him and Clank. What could have been a good moment ends up being replaced by horror when they see a Lombax refuge in ruins; devastated. And worse, caused by an old enemy of Ratchet. Feeling entitled to revenge, Ratchet seeks not only justice, but also self-discovery, and begins to question: Who he truly is? What does he ultimately want? And above all... What is his most valuable possession?

When Clank and Kit visit the Great Clock, Clank starts to feel guilty about using the clock as a time machine to prevent Ratchet's death. When he tells Kit about it, she reassures him that he did nothing wrong.
