What would you do if you knew you were different from everyone around you?
For as long as they can remember,
Phoenix has been judged. After all, there's nothing normal about a cat raised by dogs, or a cat that can speak to them in the first place. But after their parents died and left them alone to deal with their differences without help, there was nothing Phoenix could do but embrace the family they had come to inherit. Despite what the other cats said, or what the other dogs did, they would always love the family that raised them.
When another tragedy strikes, forcing Phoenix and their family of dogs out of their home, they find shelter in the strangest of places - a group of cats who seem to be deeply committed to their own beliefs. Phoenix is dragged into a life of murder, of obedience, and of fear, learning the ropes that will bring them true happiness . . . or so they say.
As Phoenix navigates their strange past, an unsuspecting love life, and danger from those who claim to care about them, they must also think about their own sanity, and if safety and shelter are truly worth the bonds they've made since their childhood. And while strange ghosts guide them in a different direction altogether, Phoenix becomes increasingly uncomfortable with both themself and with those around them.
In the end, those few they know they can trust will hold the answer, and bring them to where their destiny truly lies . . . if they can survive the journey long enough.
