The Gallowglass were an elite type of mercenary that fought in medieval Ireland, Scotland, and various other European countries. Originally formed from Scottish immigrants to the Emerald Island, they worked for the various lords and kings that ruled Ireland. Their armaments often included the Claymore, a large, two-handed sword of Scottish origin, or the Sparth Axe, a two-handed axe of Norse origin. They were revered as fierce warriors who never backed down from a fight. This is the story of one such captain.
