She met her best friend Stella not so long after, and they became the closest, as they shared the same secret; they were both mermaids. But one day, when her step-brother Lewis started asking weird questions about mermaids to her mother, a scientist who knows about Annie's secret, they started investigating and got to an unexpected result. It wasn't about them he was searching....

Taking place one month after the season 3 finale, Emma returns to the Gold Coast after 9 months of traveling the world. Excited to reunite with her BFFs, Rikki and Cleo, she soon sees they no longer wear their lockets as well as have met a new mermaid: Bella, who they've befriended. Tension arise between the girls as mixed emotions flow. When Rikki and Cleo become trapped in a dangerous situation, Emma and Bella will be forced to put their differences aside and help their friends.

Cleo Sertori, Emma Gilbert and Rikki Chadwick are mermaids. The three of them lived as peacefully as they could without their friends and family's, with some exceptions, finding out they were mermaids. Their lives were good until Emma Gilbert came home, panicking, saying she had to leave. Cleo and Rikki searched for Emma but did not find her. And that started the adventure of Cleo Sertori becoming Hayley Marshall, ending up in New Orleans pregnant with the Original Hybrid's baby when all she wanted to do was find her sister.
