Once upon a time, there was a Paladin and a Cleric. The Paladin was Mike the brave; he cared for and watched over the Cleric Will the wise. Mike was assigned to look over Will at a young age; he didn't know it yet, but he ws going to lose his most precious thing in the world. His world, his person, his sunlight, his cleric, his love, his William. As they grew up, their bond became inseparable; Mike would always be with Will; they would fight battles together and keep each other safe. Mike the brave tells the story of himself and his Cleric to anyone who cares to hear it; the story was told by many, and he loved telling it but hated remembering how he lost his world that night. A kingdom built on divine order begins to fracture when Prince Mike Wheeler, a paladin sworn to uphold holy justice, is sent to investigate a poor village's unsanctioned magic. There, he meets Will Byers: a self-taught prophet whose visions prove the Divine speaks far beyond the Church's control. Mike has power without guidance. Will has guidance without power. Together, they become the foundation of a reformation neither the Crown nor the Church can ignore. A Byler-centered fantasy AU inspired by D&D-style worldbuilding, but set in its own original fantasy kingdom with its own magic system, theology, politics, and structure.
