Teenagers Eliza and Darien are neighbours and their parents are friends, but the two of them never seem to get along. When a promise to an old friend of their parents requires them to volunteer an entire summer at a retirement home, it is left up to them to decide which one of them will take up the job that neither of them want to take. Eliza and Darien come up with a bet, they will both give each other some dares and the first one to back out loses and has to take up the job. During this time they tend to find each other slightly less hate-able, what is in store for them.

This book is cliched. In fact, it is so cliched, that there is almost no point in explaining the story. We follow a cliched plotline, with cliched characters, and cliched interactions between these things. We all know it. The hero is a hero and nothing else, while the villain is a villain and nothing else. And strangley enough, no one can remember the name of the henchman. No, I'm serious, no one knows that guy's name. Not even his girlfriend or cousin. Prepare to be amazed (or not, you know, it's your choice. After all, that is a pretty cliched line) as you enter the world of Jayda, Tristan and the guy whose name is too complex to remember.
