(CONTAINS MATURE CONTENT) A deadly disease, called the Deviant Plague, spread throughout the world. Cities like New York, Tokyo and Delhi were hit the worst. Hospitals began to fill with fevered, boil covered victims. A quarantine was ordered immediately, but the virus spread quickly to new hosts through contact with bodily fluids. Large cities were bombed in an attempt to keep the fallout to a minimum, but two thirds of the population still perished. Those who survived the plague were left on the surface to fend for themselves while being hunted for a cure by the non-infected who live in underground facilities. For a while the infected were powerless to fight back, but some quickly discovered the plague left them with a gift, superpowers. *This is a rough draft. Feedback is welcome and appreciated. ||5/26/2019 #2 in co-author|| With seemingly nothing in common, but the broken halves of a magical eye amulet they hold; Ketua a girl from a peace-loving mountain village that abhors outsiders and Eresse a boy from a battle-loving forest village that can't stand weakness are forced together in order to save their loved ones and discover the whole truth of who they are. When their respective homes are attacked by the same mysterious group of warriors they are both told that they must make their glowing eye amulet whole by uniting it with its other half in the city of Aumbria, a city whose every inhabitant from flea to King has been afflicted with an unnatural sleep from which they can not wake. With their loved ones lives on the line they must overcome every obstacle to find each other, or be taken by the darkly clad strangers who attacked their homes.

It was meant to be taken as a joke. "The only problem we could have is if they forbid the writing/reading of books and we'd all have to become underground criminals sneaking into places to find a library that wasn't torn down and hoping we don't get caught by the police and be forced to watch horrible movie adaptations of the books we love." But the O.A.R. (Organization Against Reading) saw it as an opportunity. How can one boy live in a world without reading? Can there be a way to change this horrible future? Will they be successful in ending the reign of technology? Or has books and paper met its time? Every reader's nightmare: Reading is Forbidden.

This story is co-written by me and my good friend PumpkinQueen23, but like not in a normal planned way, we take turns writing chapters and don't tell each other what we're going to do, so neither of us has any clue where the story is going (which made choosing a name rather difficult)
