For the open novella contest, this is a story about a young girl who wakes up in the small town of Star Dew. The scenery is nice. The town's people are friendly. But she has no memories of how she got there. And things get surreal when she tries to leave town but is looped back in. Her only clue is a purple iris that glows in her dreams.

Seventeen-year-old Rhiannon Whitmore has spent every summer at her family's quiet East Coast beach house, where the days are slow, the town is small, and nothing ever really changes. But the summer before her first semester of college, she meets Elias Belmount, a charming nineteen-year-old who brings late-night drives along the coast, hidden bonfires, and a kind of freedom she's never known. With Elias, everything feels different, bigger, brighter, and a little dangerous. But in a town where secrets don't stay buried for long, small cracks in his stories begin to appear, and the summer Rhiannon thought would change her life in the best way slowly starts to shift into something else.
